“Removing Roadblocks on Your Path to Success”
Are We in a Talent War of Epic Proportions?
The percentage of Americans in the labor pool fell to a thirty-eight year low in June of 2015 driven primarily by retiring baby boomers and a shortage of Millennials to replace their positions. This will make it very difficult for employers to hire the talent they need and thereby threatens to slow our economic growth.
Although the U.S. demographics are staggering, things are even worse overseas. By 2050, about twenty-one percent of the U.S. population will be sixty-five or older compared to more than thirty percent in Europe and a mind-boggling forty percent in Japan.
Without a clearly defined talent acquisition strategy, system and processes in place, companies will not be able to hire and retain the help they need to grow their businesses. The talent war has become a global crisis.
Leaders with a talent acquisition mindset make recruiting a critical part of their work. They have the passion, courage, and determination to take the bold actions necessary to strengthen their talent pools and help everyone else in their company do the same.
In an uncertain, complex and ever changing economic environment, the question is not whether your company’s managers and employees have the right skills. The question is do they have the potential to learn new skills fast. They must have the ability to adapt and grow into increasingly complex roles quickly.
Candidate Relationship Management (CRM) Systems
Many talent acquisition managers will be using CRM systems more to run targeted campaigns, nurture leads and develop relationships with candidates. The biggest challenge is getting qualified candidates to respond to your recruiting message because of the plethora of invitations they receive from Mobile Applications, Social Media and a vast number of other communication channels.
How is your company perceived as an employer? What are the messages you are communicating about working with your business? How are those messages being interpreted by candidates?
The way you treat applicants should be your primary concern. This is particularly true for the people you do not hire. Each candidate should feel like your company has an inspiring vision, great culture and is well managed.
